Scottish Collie Open Show 21/09/2025

I would like to thank the club for inviting me to judge .The present is very special and a lovely gesture . And to Kelly and Lynn for being my stewards. Most importantly to all the exhibitors for their entries. My hands were clean all the way through. 

A couple of points to note: where are all the young ones hiding ? These are the future breeding stock. 

Teeth in some exhibits need to be cleaned. It is a beauty show which means all the dog.

And feet our breed is supposed to have well arched front feet, not flat,  keeping nails short and road work can help with this. 

It was lovely to see new faces in the ring as well.

1 st Mr & Mrs M Mcarte Roughrigg Rags’N’Riches 

18 month s/w although alone he thoroughly deserved his place.He is a lovely make and shape fabulous reach of neck into a great lay of shoulder, depth of chest is spot on for age. He has a great back end and well muscled. His head is well balanced with a lovely almond eye and correct stop giving you the desired sweet expression.

1st Mrs L Foster Didek Eclipse Of The Moon

2 and half yr old blue merle He is a good size and has a correct head with a nice eye. He has good bone and a lovely shape. His blue is a clear colour but carries too much black for me and unfortunately he really didn't like the floor . He is definitely a boy that would like outdoor shows.

1st Mr C Taylor Thistlewing Fire Dancer At Bryany

4yr old s/w what a lovely rich colour. An upstanding male with a good shaped body with plenty of heart room totally fit for function, he was the best mover in this class. His head is correct with a well placed eye.

2nd Miss C Shorten Thistlewing Andromeda At Bracoisla

3yr old s&w well presented and a very upstanding boy when he pulls himself together i think he had his mind on other things lol. He has a fabulous reach of neck and a lovely shape with good bone . A well balanced head with a correct stop and well placed eye.Moved ok You can tell these boys come from the same breeder as very typey.

1st Mrs N Houlihan Kourika Frosted Ice 

6yr old blue merle . Lovely coloured blue correct clear colour with small splashes of black. His head is just what I love well moulded lovely soft eye and correct stop. Fab lay of shoulder which leads into correct shape well bent stifle and let down hocks. He moved ok .

2nd Thistlewing Fire Dancer At Bryany He just lost out to the blue as I preferred his head. 

Open Dog 4/1

1st Brookers Starlenga All About Magic For Corisian JW RBD 

Stunning S&W while he is not a big boy, he is balanced throughout . His head is just my cup of tea lovely filled foreface his stop is correct and so is his eye placement which are almond shape and his expression just melting. Fantastic reach of neck into well laid shoulders, his well sprung ribs giving plenty of heart room, he can be prone to tucking himself under for his bait.  He moved with power and drive from amazing short hocks .He was in great coat and every single hair was groomed to perfection. I loved him.

2nd Mrs B Welsh Thistlewing Smoky Quarts 

He really pushed hard for 1st . Haven't seen him for a while and I would get him back out in the ring. A most stunning shaded sable colour , and while his expression is not my preference , his head is totally correct and oh my what a shape he has. And a lesson in muscle tone. Moved very well and very well presented.

1st Miss M Mcann Ch Oakland Blue Style Du Clos De Seawind At Zolkhan( imp Fra)BD & BVD 

I adore this dog. He is just what I love in the breed. I judged him when he was a youngster and said he should have a bright future, well multiple CC’s later i had the pleasure to get my hands on him again. Even though he is now a veteran he still has a masculine head that is correct in every level, and with an expression that just melts you. He is well muscled and showed in his movement. If an animal is built right, it will move right; it's not rocket science . His colour is still a lovely blue marbled with black. Thank you for bringing him.

2nd Miss S Steven Cariadhaf Crazy Dream 

S&W I cant believe he is 11 yrs old, a credit to his owner for keeping this boy in tip top condition, he has fantastic muscle tone and moved really well . The older this boy has got I actually think the better he has got . His head is balanced with a nice wedge shape, correct stop and lovely placed eye giving a soft expression. Good lay of shoulder  and correct length of back . A special mention to this exhibitor for bringing her entire kennel under me for my numbers it was hugely appreciated.

Junior Bitch 3/1 Mrs K Clark Salsina Love Me Do 

And I did love her , even though she was giving her handler a hard time. I always call it character lovely S&W with a fantastic shape, good reach of neck well laid shoulders .She won this class on her head qualities. She has such a sweet expression and her ears bang on top . Moved well keep up the training.

2nd Miss S Steven Cambrogan’s Blissful Barra 

She is a classic collie with a fabulous shape and a lovely tri colour in good coat. Her head is balanced with a slight stop, she just lost out on expression to one for me , but if every person liked the same the world would be very dull. The muscletone on this girl is fab and she moved with drive and purpose.

1st Miss C shorten Beldones Dancing In The Dark At Bracoisla

Tri Girl with the most gleaming ink black coat and rich tan , she is out of coat at the moment and would love to see her when she is in full bloom, I really like her . Lovely head with a soft melting expression, which is difficult to get on a tri, her reach of neck is fabulous well arched and into a great lay of shoulder her lack of coat meant there was nothing to hide on this girls shape. And she moved really well . Just one wee note to try and help please try and keep her nails short. She is a lovely girl. 

2nd L Watt Culabrae Charmed Again

S/W girl this was a close decision between these 2 , as this girl was in better coat and had a bit more maturity. Such a shame she did not like the floor. Her head is balanced with a nice soft eye and again a lovely shape with good length to height ratio. She stood and showed her wee socks off.

S/W She is a lovely shaped girl with a good reach of neck and a nice length of back . Her head is a lovely wedge with a good eye placement , she was not keen on using her ears today . Fantastic bone and she moved really well.

1st Mrs C Proctor Didek Moonshine For Cathbri 

Tri bitch with the sweetest of heads and fantastic free movement which won her the class over 2nd place. She has everything in the right place and it shows when she moves. I just wish she was a tiny bit bigger , but that is just my preference. 

2nd Mrs I Hutchings Riverside SongThrills Of The NIght At Scottrye (imp Rom) 

There is no mistaking I Love this bitch as I have asked often enough for her to come to mine, she lost out on movement today would love to see her in a grass ring. She is the most elegant shape with a lovely height to length ratio. And her head is just devine with the most gorgeous expression. 

3rd Ms W& A Mcgill & Boyd Afterhero Vanilla Chocolate For Wicani With Stregato.

S&W She is looking in great condition and was well presented . Lovely soft Expression with correctly shaped almond eye. Correctly placed stop and nice underjaw . Great shape and moved with drive . She stood and showed well. 

2nd Mr C Taylor Elshajo As If By Magic Of Bryany 

S/W She is a lovely lady with a gorgeous head and expression, good reach of neck well off for bone but still feminine , if only she would move this girl must be a heartbreak for her owner , as she hates inside. 

Open Bitch 5/1 Quality class.

1st Mr & Mrs Mccarte Roghrigg One Of A Kind BB BIS

Here she was S/W fully mature lady and just what I was looking for: gorgeous make and shape ,with a lovely head with a soft / cheeky expression . Lovely well arched neck, correct lay of shoulder, fantastic depth of chest , her length to height ratio is spot on , her nice rise over the loin then going into well muscled and angulated rear quarters , she moved with a lovely reach of stride and powerful rear drive. Her handler has worked well to reign in her enthusiasm and I think she is now ready to trouble the best. Thank you for bringing her.

2nd Mrs Melvin & Jopson Lillyway Lemon Sparkle At Nithanview 

S/W girl adored her shape with an amazing reach of neck which is well arched. This girl was unfortunately out of coat, but this meant she had absolutely nothing to hide fantastic muscle tone and moved very well , she pushed 1st hard. 

3rd Thistlewing Magic Lady.

Veteran Bitch 4/1 All these ladies are a lesson in muscletone.

 1st Mrs PMEJ&JL Brooker Telforth Sweet Dreams To Corisian JW RBB RBIS BVIS

13 year old S&W . At last i get my hands on this girl and you would never think she was the age she is. If ever a dog deserved her ch title it is this one and i honestly cant believe she did not gain this years ago!!! I am so happy she now has 2 CC’s and I have everything crossed the 3rd is soon. From the tip of her nose to the end of her tail I loved . There is not a lot more to say that hasn't been said before in her lustrous veteran career . Apart from a special mention to her owners for keeping her so fit and in such fabulous condition , she is an absolute credit to her breeder and owners . And a special mention to the late Terry Mgowan keep looking out for her as i know how much you loved this girl. 

2nd Miss S Steven Cariadhaf Cookies And Cream For Cambrogan

11yr old tri another lady who belies her age. Shown in fabulous coat and condition and a credit to her owner. She has a lovely head and her expression has gotten softer as she has aged. A lovely shape with great depth of chest with plenty of heart room and again another lady who moved with power and drive.
