Cherishing the past and challenging the future

Wicani Rough Collies
I attended my very first show as a spectator in 1972 with the sole intention of watching the Collies. Unable to own one at that time, I spent two years watching and studying until in 1974 I was finally able to purchase my very own precious bundle of happiness. This was Leila (meaning raven haired) and Barbara Blake kindly registered her as Queen Leila at Corydon. Leila can be found way back in all of our pedigrees. She was an excellent example for me to learn from winning me my very first stud book number in 1977 and eventually winning 1 CC and 2 reserve CC. She lived to the grand age of sixteen.
Since those early years I haven't always been able to follow my show ring dreams, raising five children, having some serious health set backs and being unable to drive didn't help, but together with my third husband Keith we are very proud of our moderate success in more recent times.
So here are our 'brags!

We are..
The first UK show kennel to introduce genetically clear collies. We imported from Canada and America. At that time there were no known genetically clear collies in the UK and there are now no cea affected Collies in our kennel.
We have no DM affected Collies either.
The first UK show kennel to own an American Collie that sired not one but TWO UK champions. Ch Churchoak Temptress at Wicani and Ch Aqualita Dr No
We are..
Proud to have bred foundation stock for kennels all over the world, and bred dogs that gained Champion titles in 36 Countries including Vice world Champion and Mullti Champion Wicani Amber light, European show BOB winner Mullti Champion Wicani Sharp Dressed Man and World veteran winner Multi Champion Wicani Wren-noir .
We have bred and or owned well over 30 winners of a stud book number (have actually lost
count now)
We are..
We are proud to have bred the first Rough Collie to gain the new RKC Platinum agility award
and she was the first Collie to reach the highest level in agility too (level 7).
We are proud to have bred a Collie that is able to herd sheep and cattle on a working farm in
Wales!
Nothing is perfect but we enjoy fearlessly trying to produce perfection.
Puppies
We breed for sound happy dispositions
Well bred carefully raised puppies are sometimes available to both show and pet homes.
