Rough Collies

Thank you to the super friendly committee for inviting me to judge today, and my lovely stewards for keeping the ring running efficiently. Rough Collies are my first breed with my Mother owning them before I was born, and I have never been without one. An appointment I been most looking forward to and didn’t disappoint, some super exhibits with conformation and movement on a whole very good.

Veteran Dog (2)

1st Corben’s Astromelias Ulises via Caprioara (Sp Imp). Shaded S/W of 7 years, male up to top size, head heavy throughout but has correct wedge, nice tight ears. Good eye and expression, correct bite but teeth need attention. Long neck, well angulated shoulders, good length of back, long hocks, body covered in big top coat presented in clean condition but whites were dull. Body certainly needs more weight to fit his frame. Won this class on his better movement over 2nd.

2nd Bartram’s Ambartr King of the Ring. 8 yr old sable, good head, stop a little low. Dark eyes and correct ear set. Nice angles front and rear, coat presented in good condition. The change of handler lost him the class as I couldn’t assess him thoroughly and he was constantly spinning around. Very unsettled on the move.

MPD (0)

PD (3)

1st Corben’s Seoirsin Shooting Star via Caprioara Naf Taf. S/W of 10 mths, Super head, correct head, good wedge shape, good stop, well shaped dark eye, nice tight ear set, good length of neck, good angles both front and rear. Good body shape with correct weight. Long tail. stood on good feet, presented well. Movement was clean with decent stride. Promising youngster BPD

2nd Falletto’s Signor Gianpaolo Verysuper Black Di Cambiano. 9 mths tri. Head not as well developed as 1st. Has nice eyes and good set ears, used well. Long neck, would prefer better angulation in front. Body lacks bone throughout. Fitted coat and presented in good condition. Movement was poor in front with too much leg lift.

3rd Vogan’s Lenosann The Prophecy

JD (3)

1st Blake’s Corydon The Baronet. This young lad of 15 mths certainly has the wow factor. Not the largest of boys but has everything in proportion. Beautiful head, correct wedge with correct amount of stop, beautiful set eyes of correct size and shape giving that desired expression. Ears bang on top and used to his advantage. Graceful neck into well laid back shoulders. Good front, correct length of back, rise over loin, well set tail of correct length and carried well. Good hocks and nice turn of stifle. Good movement from all angles with very correct stride, minimal effort and good footfall. Body covered in a jet black coat that was presented in first class order. Certainly fit for function. DCC.

2nd Randall’s Ladnar Call My Name. 13 mths B/M that’s already made his mark in the ring. Nice upstanding male, head stronger than 1st, but had good wedge, would prefer a better eye. Ears set well. Long neck into good shoulders, correct length of back. Good strong hocks. He was not on his game today, and lacked enthusiasm on the move.

3rd Clark’s Millubie Blu Me Away to Derbypark (Imp)

YD (3-2a)

1st Primmer’s Winner of Dreams Angel Silvestre at Colcanis. Tri of nearly 2 years. Lovely expressive head, would prefer less stop. Good ears, used well. Good length of neck, shoulders and rear angles are correct, just needs more maturity and body up. Side gait was good, but close moving away. Well presented.

ND & GD (1)

1st Blake’s Corydon The Baronet (as JD)

PGD (1)

Toogood’s Hanvale Ralph Lauren JW. 2 yr old S/W with super sweet expression. Decent head shape but would prefer less stop, lovely roundness of muzzle, expressive dark eyes, good mouth. Ears well tipped. Body well made, good angulations both front and rear. Movement good and full of enthusiasm, rather proud of his tail. Charming boy with lovely temperament, presented in super condition

LD (5)

1st Cooper’s Kelekona Hearts of Gold JW. This 3 yr old S/W needs to be handled to be appreciated. Lovely head and expression. Lovely wedge shape, good cheeks, good dentition, well moulded foreface. Dark eye, correct size, with lovely expression. Long sweeping neck into well laid shoulders. Nice depth of chest, good length of back, nice ribbing, carrying correct amount of weight for his frame, well let down hocks and good length of tail. Only down side is that I would like him a bit bigger all over. Moved with drive and purpose with good footfall. Presented in first class condition RCC

2nd Williams Mejola Top Gun JW. Nice up to size S/W of 2 yrs. Good head but a bit fuller in cheek than I would like, lovely expression with dark eye, good ears and used well. Nice arch of neck, good body shape, with good angulations front and rear. Moved out well, just preferred the more refined head of 1st

3rd Wray Ramsden”s Takhisis Daggers at Dawn JW

OD (6-2a)

1st Mellish’s Demelewis’s Silver Spur at Corydon. B/M of 4 yrs. A real classic Collie, super head and expression, nice wedge shape, good eyes, obliquely set, nice tight ear set and used great in this class. This lad scores on his overall body shape, with long neck, correct lay of shoulder, body of good size and well bodied, good second thigh which was lacking in a few exhibits today, body covered in correct texture coat that wasn’t over done. Stormed around the ring like he owned it with great stride in front, power and drive from the rear with perfect footfall. Thought he would be my CC winner today but got spooked coming back into ring when the rather loud tannoy went off and he wouldn’t show off his virtues. Hopefully he will get his mojo back as he is surely a champion in the making.

2nd Flower’s Androma Dreamcatcher at Serenlas (Imp Svn) S/W of 6 years. Smaller frame than first. Decent head, would prefer more roundness of muzzle, correct stop, dark eye. Good earset, very alert. Overall body shape is good with correct angles both front and rear. Nice feet, long tail. Just would prefer more of him all over. Moved with ease.

3rd Williams Phreelancer Phederal Agent at Mejola

VB (6-1a)

1st Flower’s Serenlas Heaven in Blu. 7 years B/M of good colour . Lovely head with a good roundness of muzzle, clean stop, beautiful eyes giving good expression, neat ears and used to advantage. Graceful in neck, into well angulated shoulders. Good length of body, well angulated rear. Good length of tail. Standing on nice tidy feet. Movement was good from all angles, easy choice for BVIB

2nd Lyall’s Santaloly’s Sky Amidalas. Really sweet S/W in lovely coat. Not showing her 10 yrs. Nice head shape, dark eye, neat ears and used well. Nicely made throughtout. Moved well. Presented well. Just preferred the winners head and expression.

3rd Cronk’s Ch Chelborn Wish List

MPB (1)

1st Ransome’s Serenlas Dream Maker. S/W baby of just 6 months, head handles well, dark eye, good ears. Immature in body as expected, movement steady and she was enjoying her day out. Very sweet with a lovely temperament.

PB (8)

1st Collino’s Imaginist Frozen in Time. B/M of 9 mths. Nicely moulded head, good roundness of muzzle, very expressive eyes, neat ears, used well. Long neck into nice shape body, well angulated both front and rear. Long tail. Movement was good and covered the ground with ease. Very composed even with a change of handler. Lovely temperament. BPiB

2nd Gatt’s Wicani Belladonna. 11 mths tri, heavier in head that first. Nice dark eyes, ears a bit heavy tipped, but very alert and used to advantage. Decent length of neck, good shoulder placement, good height to length ratio. Well let down in hocks and good feet Moved steadily.

3rd Perrott’s Lynmead Star Struck

JB (3-1a)

1st Gatt’s Wicani Belladonna (2nd in PB)

2nd Bartram’s Ambartr’s Dignity and Pride. 16 mths of bigger type, wouldn’t like her any bigger. Head mature, good length of muzzle but stop breaks too low, dark eyes, good tight ear set. Pleasing overall body shape although very much out of coat, has good angles, pleasing on movement with good stride.

YB (4-2a)

1st Primmer’s Xanthe Angel Silvestre at Colancis (Imp Bel). S/W of 20 mths. Sweet head and expression, finer than I would prefer. Good ears but unsettled, good shoulders angulation, decent length of neck, good feet. Would prefer more body overall. Movement difficult to assess as very distracted.

2nd Bartram’s Ambartr’s Dignity and Pride (2nd in JB)

NB (3)

1st Gatt’s Wicani Belladonna

2nd Margett’s Lynmead Designer Tipple for Collingvale. 10 mths, really sweet S/W. head shape although not of the type I prefer, had good properties, nice dark eye and neat ears but would prefer them tighter. Overall angles were good and decent length in back. Very distracted while on the stand, movement was good from all angles.

3rd Carlton’s Lynmead Dresses the Stars of Sambreeze

GB (2)

1st Harvey’s Afterhero Cheeky Angel at Wicani. 2 years old, super B/M of lovely colour. Presented in first class condition. Loved her head, so clean throughout with clean cheeks, good roundness of muzzle, lovely clean stop, lovely eye giving desired expression, neat ears used well. Long graceful neck into good shoulder, good length of back , rise over loin, well let down hocks, good tight feet, just needs to mature in body. No doubt one for the upper house.

2nd Wells Gataj Little Miss Sassy at Terelimon. S/W of nearly 2, sweet head but finer than I would prefer. Good stop, not over done, nice eye. Would prefer tighter ears but well used and alert. Body shape was good, with nice angles and well let down hocks, was distracted standing and lack lustre on the move.

PGB (2)

1st Stllwell’s Wicani That’s Amore with Bellawave. 2 yrs shaded sable. Another that left her coat at home, but showed off her superb body shape. Head had correct wedge and decent stop. Lovey dark eye, Nice ears and used well. Wouldn’t like her any bigger. Moved well in all directions.

2nd Moore’s Aqualita Dream Come True. S/W with sweet head and expression but on the finer side. Dark eye, good ear set. Decent in body shape but would prefer a better upper arm, long neck. Good length of back. Coat texture was rather soft and far too much of it. Presented well, very unsettled on the move.

LB (3)

1st Cronk’s Chelborn Tell Me Your Wish. I watched this young lady walk into the ring and I just couldn’t take my eyes of her. 3 yrs old S/W. Her head is beautiful to handle, everything correct, wedge shaped, beautiful dark eyes that were obliquely set giving that sweet desired expression. Her ears were set correctly and used to advantage, Long graceful neck, into well placed shoulders, good upper arm, nice chest, well ribbed, correct length of back, nice rise over loin, good turn of stifle. Long tail. Good tight feet. Coat of correct texture, fitted and not over done, presented in first class condition. Movement was correct with minimal effort, from all angles, good stride out in front and with drive from rear. She can grace my sofa any day. BCC and BoB. So pleased to see her shortlisted in a big group

2nd Newman’s Phreelancer Pheel it Still. S/W that has certainly made her mark in the ring over the past few months. Super sweet in expression, correct head shape, dark eyes and lovely ear set. Long neck into good shoulder, length of back and rise over loin. Showed and moved and handled to advantage. RBCC

3rd Primmer’s Riverside Song Paloma at Colcanis (imp Rom)

OB (4-1a)

1st Wray Ramsden’s Bel Ch Takhisis Lady of Mystery Bw24. Lovely S/W of 4 years old. One I was actually surprised by, when she put her ears up her whole expression changed and I was taken by her charm, beautiful set ears, nice & tight and correctly tipped. Head of correct shape, with a well set stop, and very expressive eyes. Her overall body shape was good and correct angles front and rear which enabled her to move with ease, and power from the rear with good footfall. Good muscle tone, long tail, groomed to perfection and well handled to advantage. Another I considered for the RCC.

2nd Flower’s Serenlas Pumpkin Spice JW. Another S/W of good type. Decent head but would prefer more roundness of muzzle. Nice eye, and good ear set. Good length in neck and back, nice rise over loin. Nice tight feet. Moved out well.
